What is meant by copyright and how i have addressed this in my work?

Copyright offers protection for original intellectual property or creative works like music, plays, and novels, granting owners the exclusive right to safeguard their ideas. It is illegal for anyone to utilize or share copyrighted content on the internet without obtaining the owner's permission, but copyright has a finite duration and expires after a specific time frame. When creating my advertisement, I took care not to incorporate any copyrighted elements, such as background music. Instead, I used non-copyrighted music from YouTube. Additionally, I ensured that my advertisement did not feature any logos or trademarks for other products. The only logo displayed in the advertisement is that of 'IntelliSound buds'.

Redraft video explanation

Editing and developing my product

After receiving my client and peers feedback, I worked on further editing my ad. I re-created my montage; I shot different angles from what I originally had in my advert; I used a medium close-up shot for the first scene of the montage where the person is laying down in bed with the earbuds on to add an increased number of angles in the ad. I also used an over the shoulder shot for the second scene of the montage. For the last scene of the montage, I used a wide shot of the person running/exercising as a reply to one of the comments I received where I was asked to add a variety of camera shots. I have created a version for my final production after responding to my peer's feedback and added transitions between the scenes of my montage.

Version of my advert with transitions

Client feedback

Client A

  • There is a very small variety of camera angles and shot and the shots used are very common, maybe you could re-shoot with more angles to make it more interesting or use different shots to create a montage?

  • Linked to the above point, when the boy was purchasing the earbuds, it would have been nice to see a moving shot of the shop staff handing the earbuds to the young boy.

  • Maybe you could create an actual montage by filming a few shots instead of adding pictures.

  • Also, could you show more happy scenes, maybe in the montage to show that you are promoting happy foundations?

Client B

  • There is a very small amount if transitions, maybe you could add a few more?

  • You have included the happy foundations logo at the beginning of your ad, maybe you could a few more or one at the end to promote happy foundations even more by making it more noticeable and reminding the audience about happiness.

  • In the montage the background was black, it would be better to use yellow or any other color that represents happiness.

  • I have received feedback from my client requesting me to change a few things for my final cut. Firstly, I was told that I had a small variety of camera angles and shots and that they are very commonly used throughout my advert so I should maybe reshoot with more angles or use different/new angles in my montage to make it more interesting – I will make sure to respond to that by filming different shots in the montage. Secondly, they told me that in the scene where the boy is purchasing the earbuds, I should use a moving shot of the shop staff handing the earbuds to the young boy – I will make sure to respond to that by maybe re-shooting the scene in the same way asked if I was able to re-visit the shop. Thirdly, they asked me to create an actual montage by filming a few shots instead of using pictures – I will make sure to respond to that by filming 3 shots using different camera shots for the montage then adding the descriptions/features of the earbuds. Finally, I was asked to add more happy scenes to show that I am promoting happy foundations – I will make sure to respond to that by asking my actor to smile more when shooting the scenes for the montage. My other client also requested me to change a few things. Firstly, they told me that I had a very small number of transitions and that I should add a few more – I will make sure to respond to that by adding a few transitions in the new version of my montage. Secondly, they asked me to include more of the happy foundations logo to make it noticeable and to remind my audience about happiness – I will make sure to respond to that by adding the happy foundations logo at the end of my advert. Lastly, I was told to change the background in the montage – I will make sure to respond to that by changing the montage by adding 3 scenes instead of pictures referring to client A’s feedback.

Actual advert

Peer feedback on final cut of advert

Peer A: Star: Many shots were shown and added at the end and mentions happy foundations

Peer B: Star: The advert is very well planned and has an understandable story line.

Wish: I believe that the bulky font is very over-the-top and needs to be changed.

Peer C:  Star: The advert has a wide variety of shot types.

Wish: The black screens are unnecessary

It's fantastic to hear that your peers provided positive feedback on your project! The inclusion of a variety of well-executed camera shots and the incorporation of the Happy Foundations logo must have added a visually appealing element to your work. The commendation for having a clear and well-planned story line indicates that your storytelling skills were effective and engaging.

On the constructive side, one of your peers recommended removing the black screens, deeming them unnecessary. This feedback suggests an opportunity to enhance the flow and continuity of your project by eliminating elements that might disrupt the viewing experience. Additionally, another peer proposed changing the font, expressing concerns about its bulkiness and the unnecessary space it occupied. Considering this suggestion could lead to a more streamlined and aesthetically pleasing presentation, ensuring that the visual aspects of your project complement the overall narrative.

Incorporating these thoughtful suggestions from your peers could further elevate the quality and impact of your work. Keep up the good work!
