Video pitch

Feedback

Video pitch feedback.PNG

I have received some feedback from some of my peers following my video pitch presentation. For the positive feedback I received, I was told that I mentioned everything I needed to that would help me create my documentary, I spoke in detail and lengthened my explanation, I spoke a bit more confidently than past video pitches that I have created for my past work and lastly that I have a clear voice making it easier to understand. Some feedback I received of the things I need to fix when creating future video pitches are that I should try speaking more confidently, use the camera angle in a higher position so that it's eye-to-eye, mention the plans for the actual documentary, speak with more emotion and use body language as well as showing clear videos that are in the background of the video pitch.

I will improve things in my next video pitch by speaking more confidently using some emotion, using body language, putting the camera at a higher angle, mentioning the plans for the actual documentary and using clear video examples in the background of the video pitch.

Feedback for opening test shot 1

Feedback 1.jpg

My response:

I will improve the test shot by trying to film without a shaky camera. I will do this by investing in a hand held camera.

My response:

I will improve the test shot by filming it in a different place that is related to the ocean, I will film by the beach to create a final test shot that is related to the documentary I will be creating.

Final opening test shot

Test shots

In this shot I focused on the scene of the boats parked on the side of the ocean, so I decided to show a medium shot with a slow pan so that the scene looks more alive. This shot was ideal to be used for the real documentary because the pace of the shot was good enough.

In this shot I focused on the scene of the jet skis parked on the edge of the ocean, so I decided to show a wide shot with a tilt so that the scene is more lively. This shot was not ideal to be used for the real documentary because it showcases the sky and scenery rather than the jet ski.

In this shot I focused on the scene of a boat with traditional fishing nets on top of it, so I decided to show a medium shot with a slow tilt so that the scene looks more calm. This shot was not ideal to be used for the real documentary because it focuses more on the sky rather than the boat.

In this shot I focused on the shot of traditional fishing nets placed on the edge near the ocean for easy access, so I decided to show a wide shot with a pan so that the scene looks more intruiging. This shot was ideal to be used for the real documentary because it follows the direction of the traditional fishing nets.

In this shot I focused on the shot of fishes being sold in the fish market, so I decided to show a high angle POV so that the scene looks more interesting. This shot was not ideal to be used for the real documentary because there are people in the background.

In this shot I focused on the scene of fishes being sold in the fish market, so I decided to show a high angle POV so so that the scene looks more interesting. This shot was ideal to be used for the real documentary because it shows a variety of fish and the scene is clear.

In this shot I focused on the shot of a man cutting fish to sell, so I decided to show a medium close-up shot so that the scene looks more fascinating. This shot was ideal to be used for the real documentary because it shows the selling process in the fish market.

In this shot I focused on the shot of the sea animals swimming around, so I decided to show a wide shot with a slow tilt so that the scene looks peaceful. This shot was not ideal to be used for the real documentary because it was not filmed in the most suitable angle.

In this shot I focused on the shot of plastic that was thrown in the ocean, so I decided to show a high angle POV so that it shows how plastic could affect the fish and other sea animals. This shot was ideal to be used for the real documentary.

In this shot I focused on an interview of a staff member from the GNS community on sustainability, so I decided to show a medium close-up shot so that it shows how meaningful the interview was. This shot was ideal to be used for the real documentary because the interviewee answered the question perfectly from the first go.

In this shot I focused on the shot of a student throwing her garbage in the recycling bin, so I decided to show an over the shoulder shot so that it shows that the students throw their garbage in the recycling bin if required. This shot was ideal to be used for the real documentary.

In this shot I focused on the shot of the scenery in the beach, so I decided to show a slow tilt wide shot so that it shows the relaxing view of the ocean. This shot was ideal to be used for the real documentary as it is a good scene to end the documentary.

Interview questions

For the interview questions task I looked at a website that shows some Fun, Weird and unexpected interview questions from big companies like Amazon. My favorite question was the question about the tree because when the question is asked the person can mention why they chose it and it can link to a person choosing a specific tree because they are strong or dependable.

Logo development

Sketch

Eternal tides logo sketch.jpeg

My initial step involved creating a preliminary sketch of my logo for the documentary "Eternal Tides," focusing on a detailed wave to align with the ocean theme. By opting for a monochromatic sketch without colors, I allowed the core idea to take shape. To enhance visual appeal and uniqueness, I strategically added colour to the circular elements of the text, creating a captivating effect. This approach not only makes the logo more eye-catching but also aligns with the theme of my documentary about oceans. The incorporation of colour serves to highlight specific features and adds a layer of visual interest, contributing to the overall distinctiveness of the logo.

Final outcome

In finalizing my logo, I chose a dark blue colour to reflect the ocean theme. The wave drawing has a bold dark blue outline, while the interior is lightly shaded with the same hue, adding depth. The logo name, "Eternal Tides," is outlined in the matching dark blue, creating a cohesive and eye-catching design. This choice of a unified colour palette aims to evoke the vastness of the ocean, aligning well with the documentary's focus on marine environments.
